What TF is Bed Rotting?
My latest writing, what I am reading, and who I am obsessed with right now
The thought of sitting down to write my newsletter has been daunting. But rather than letting it simmer for another day, I am going to take the plunge and just do it.
It’s been a hot summer here in Seattle, I’ve been spending my days in the garden, tending to my vegetables, picking rouge plums off the ground, and eating wild raspberries from the side of my yard. I feel very in tuned with the earth these days, letting the sun tell me when it’s time to wake up or when it’s time to go inside. It’s a different kind of rest, one that I’ve been craving. That being said, things have still been busy. I am in the midst of applying to graduate school — to either become a therapist, mental health counselor, or a mix of both. I want to learn more about emotions, how they are made, why we respond the way we do. I feel a yearning for knowledge, one I haven’t felt in years.
This pairs well with the writing I have been doing, between my advice column and my freelance work. Scroll below for my latest stories, what I am reading, listening to, all of that. I hope something within this newsletter inspires you!

Absolutely loved this book about a therapist and HER therapist. Relatable, funny, and insightful as someone who is deeply interested in becoming. a therapist.
How Emotions are Made: The Secret Life of the Brain by Lisa Feldman Barrett
I am still in the middle of this book but if you are interested in neuroscience and psychology, then this is the book for you. A great explainer of how emotions are made in the brain and a deeper look into the emotional system as a whole.
What I am watching:
We just finished watching the new season of Ted Lasso, 10/10 highly recommend. We are also in the middle of Shrinking on Apple TV and I love it. Great cast and insightful commentary on therapist, community, and self-awareness.
What I am listening to:
All things TAYLOR SWIFT!!! I am heading to the Era’s Tour in a few days and I could not be more excited. If you are an editor reading this and are interested, I have a story I deeply want to write about healing my inner child through Taylor’s music. So stay tuned for that!
